Gryffindor Head of House
Much to the delight of students, staff, ghosts, elves and ... well, everyone, Headmaster Malachi Trent returned to Hogwarts this term after full recovery from his war injuries. This was especially good news for Gryffindors, as they had their beloved head of house back once again. Outside of Defense Against the Dark Arts classes, Headmaster Trent could be seen looking after the lions, who finally had a trustworthy adult they could turn to for advice and support. I was lucky to have a chance to ask the leader of our school some questions.
Hello, Professor Trent! Thank you for meeting with me today. Firstly, welcome back to Hogwarts. How do you feel about the term that just ended?
Thank you, it's...I'd like to say it's good to be back, even with the typical bit of Hogwarts nonsense that tends to happen around the castle. If I'm being completely honest, I don't mind the term that's just gone by. In the previous terms before this, we saw how bad things could get and how monumentally the school and staff could be taken down. In other terms past, we've nearly entirely disappeared. All things considered, a little calming candle work didn't feel so bad. It was...like easing back into things after the long absence.
Let’s talk about your Gryffindors. Did anything interesting or CHAOTIC happen in Gryffindor Tower this year?
Actually, I was pleasantly surprised that nothing over the top was drawn to my attention. It might be the readjustment after so long with Rosier for a head of house but the lions were more or less decently behaved. Nothing out of the ordinary, I would say.
You are also the sponsor of the drama club. Why did you decide to host a play this term, and why Peter Pan?
I thought the students could use a form of constructive distraction--Healer Poppy and her bread aside. Being a fan of the theatre myself, I've always had a passion for performance and know their power to pull people from their worries and into the play itself. With Peter Pan, the idea was to revisit childhood and the concept of never growing up, of living in a good moment but how even that can be dangerous but also, I just enjoy that play and knew the students could do it justice.
You mentioned Healer Poppy and her bread - out of all the bread we ate this year, what was your favourite?
Melon bread did worm its way into my heart as much as it did my stomach. The cinnamon was pretty spectacular as well. They may be enough reason to almost miss Poppy.
I’d say that the term was a little strange, but not all bad. What is your happiest memory from this academic year?
The play! Sure, it got off to a rough start but the students handled themselves well and the performance itself was a sight. Everyone's hard work really paid off and I saw commitment to the role from several of your school mates. It may be my bias for the theatre but after everything else, I just really enjoyed getting to sit down and enjoy a good show.

Hufflepuff Head of House
Professor June Flamsteed had the solemn task of leading our beloved Badgers after Cassiopeia Kitridge’s heroic sacrifice at the Stone Bridge. She certainly had some big, pink shoes to fill, but she did a fantastic job. In addition to teaching some fascinating herbology lessons (we learned how to harvest aquatic plants and wrangle vampire plants…pretty cool, if you ask me), Professor Flamsteed led the stage design team in our production of Peter Pan. Not to mention that she consistently remained cool, calm, and collected throughout the entirety of the Healer Poppy debacle. We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful new leader for Hufflepuff House, and we are so grateful to Professor Flamsteed for stepping in during such a difficult time.
Ravenclaw Head of House
Our favorite yo-yo loving Professor might be off on his next big adventure, but his last year at Hogwarts was certainly an interesting one. From the arrival of Healer Poppy, to the play, we checked in with the quirky head of the eagles to get his take on everything that went down this term.
This term was different in that the students and staff were introduced to Healer Poppy. How did you feel about her when you were first introduced?
I, er, I thought she was a very pleasant lady. I try to give the benefit of the doubt, as it's always tough to enter a room full of strangers. Though, er, perhaps I may have given too much benefit, heh.
With all the attempts at being zen going on, we were wondering what makes you feel zen, Professor Schmoe?
Simon & Garfunkel, jazzercise, morning walks with June, and the daily crossword! Though, er, I do enjoy indulging in the occasional bubble bath.
The announcement that a play was going to be performed had everyone buzzing. What made you want to be a part of it?
Oh, I- Well, er, I'm not much of a creative myself, but I, er, when I saw the look on Mr. Trent's face or, er, the way Ms. Nam strutted up and down the corridors memorizing her lines and, er, how eager Ms. Blaze was to take part behind the scenes... Er. It was the students. It's always the students. With their excitement to take part in the festivities, as a professor, all you want to do is help make their dreams a reality.
What did you say to those hungry Ravenclaws whose hopes of study snacks were dashed when the kitchen was all locked up this term?
To take extra food from the Great Hall. I always find the most practical solutions to be most helpful... And I do not fancy confrontation.
Winning the house cup your last term here with us must've made you very proud. Do you have any words of wisdom for the Ravenclaws and the rest of your students who'll remain here at Hogwarts?
It really did. I, er, I hope it made them proud too. And I, er, I'm not sure I have any words of wisdom worth leaving them with; perhaps I ought to ask them to leave me with words of wisdom instead. My students are a wealth of knoweldge. They have, er, they have taught me a great deal and it has been the honor of my lifetime.

Slytherin Head of House
Recovering is never easy, especially if you are Professor Gabriela Recard who has survived not one but TWO take overs by hostile forces. Still standing tall, and not just because of her heels, our History of Magic professor returned to her role of Head of House and with another shiny title to add to her jewelry collection. While off being very busy and very important with all her duties, we sat down with Nemesis Upstead, one of the Slytherin's in her care, to get their take on this Queen of the Serpents.
This term Professor Recard was promoted to Deputy Headmistress, that must have been pretty exciting for the House of Serpents.
I suppose it must have been. Fortunately it didn't go to her head or anything. Perish the thought.
Which Slytherin trait do you think your Head of House embodies the most?
Ambition. She might have been all about self-preservation once, I don't know, but being a teacher really changes a person. Our esteemed Professor Recard is clearly very ambitious. She takes on so much for the good of the school and her students, and herself too. As she should.
There was...er...a lot of bread this term. If Professor Recard were a type of bread...what kind of bread would that be and why?
Plain white bread. It's just so very versatile, appears in a lot of different dishes, in so many different forms. Professor Recard, she's got a lot of life experience under her belt. As a woman of not inconsiderable years, she's had a lot of time to rack up qualifications and work experience. Barely a wrinkle in sight too. We can learn a lot from our elders.
If we were to...I dunno...get our hands on a timeturner and WHOOSHED back in time to when Professor Recard was a student, do you think you two would have been friends?
Besties.
What is the best bit of advice that Professor Recard has given you?
Keep your head down, be quiet, and wait.
